Slowing Down To A Rapid Pace

Ok, so why are the cats up here? To divert your attention away from the fact that I'm not overly well right at the moment. Unlike most people who get ill over the Christmas break I made it through just fine.

However I then went back to work at the day job and caught a bug of some sorts, which means to say that I'm not feeling all that great is akin to saying that Hitler wasn't a very nice fellow. However I'm doing the martyr thing and working through the pain (the heat isn't helping at all) and given time, and I mean a matter of a week or so, you'll see some amazing things happening right here. I gots me some great ideas, and instead of giving them to people so they can assign other people to prepare them for their magazines and books, I'll be running the bulk of them right here.

Watch this space. In the meantime you can bask in the glory that is Merlin and Klerqy.

YOU on Old Age! An Insider's View On Ageism

I had always intended on starting 2008 exactly where I left 2007, with further discussions on the topic of ageism in comic books. My good pal Steven Bove beat me to the punch though and sent through this essay with the view of it being posted here. Steven might not be a household name in the comic book industry, but he does have the credentials to be heard on almost any topic related to comic books, he's been there and he's done it. And to add to this, if anyone else out there has something they want to get off their chest about this topic that might not fit into the comments section then drop me a line and I'll see what I can do. Without further commentary from me I'll hand this post over to Steven Bove!

YOU on Old Age!
By Steven Bove

I’m old. I didn’t mean to be but there you have it. I don’t particularly feel old and I haven’t started listing to Barbara Streisand or playing slots but there’s some gray in my hair and I’m none too fond of the direct…

Reflections On 2007

That's it. We now sit on the last day of 2007 wondering where the hell did the year go. I have no answer as to where it went, but I can remember some of the highlights for me, and I'm not interested in the low-lights, so don't even bring them out. Sadly though we lost a few on the way, James Kemsley is still a raw wound in a lot of minds, Marshall Rogers left a void that can't be filled along with others. So, in no order at all, here's some of the things that made 2007 something to remember for me.

Without a doubt Ben Cousins. Rarely has an Australian footballer flown so high and fallen so far and with a resounding thud. Still he isn't the only one to screw up, and let's face it, drugs aren't as bad as rape or assault, yet some footballers can do both and not only are they retained on a squad, but are lauded as champions of the game - go figure. Arrested in Perth on drugs charges, Cousins was dragged before the public sans his shirt, wit…
